See ya later pacifiers!

There they are in the bag...the infamous pacifiers.  We hung them in this bag in our ficus tree outside and while we were eating dinner Abby the flying fairy princess came and took them for a baby that really needed them and left Emme a present...a cat.  Soft, white, pretty stuffed cat!  She was upset pretty bad for a weekend and asked about them for a month or so.  She was attached, deeply...and she became very upset with Abby.  She would tell me over and over that "Abby took her pacis."  I felt bad but both her speech teacher and dentist said, "okay mom, enough!"

Brother Love

 I am thinking that girls are born with this innate character, to comfort, console and protect.  She definitely does that for Zackary.   He shows her the ways, calms her down and teachers her all his wonderful techniques of "how to drive mom and dad crazy!"  She is very gently with him and it's adorable. 

She even was trying to be like Zackary one day after she had witnessed his stomach flu (vomiting).  She scared me cause I thought, oh no, now it is her turn but no she was just trying to be like him and vomit in the sink.  Made me chuckle! 

A Hot Day at Grandma's

So much fun at Grandma's today.  Through the heat we picked a basket of apples, Zackary rescued a baby lizard out of the pool and we killed an enormous black widow spider, probably the biggest I have ever seen.  The kids had so much fun, you can tell by their red faces!  I am glad they have a yard they can go play in that is big and full of surprises, and it's only an hour away!

A Flower For Each

So cute, they each had to have their own rose, put it in a vase and place it in a special spot in their room.  I love flowers so I love this moment.  These kids, they are growing to fast just like the roses they hold. 

My Musician

Give him a guitar, drum, bango, whistle, music, anything and he will play it and listen to it.  You can tell he is listening to the instruments and concentrating whenever he likes a song we have on.  Instruments fit him!  I can't wait to see what he chooses to master!  Maybe drums like his Dad.

F*I*V*E*

 My little man turned 5.  Above were the pictures for his invitation which turned out so cute!  We had a Disney car themed birthday.

His kindergarten teacher, Mrs. B knitted this crown for Z in celebration of him for his birthday!

We had family and his friends over to celebrate.  Their was cupcakes...

a pinata...filled with toys...

a lot of toys...

food...other games...

conversations...

and best of all...smiles!  Happy Birthday to my sweetest boy, who enlivens my spirit, warms my heart and makes me who I am.  You are developing into a strong, caring and very bright young boy!  We love you.

First Day of Kindergarten!!

Kindergarten...I can remember kindergarten for me and now here is my son going.  He looks so ready to begin his journey through school.  Ben and I picked a school basically with that premise, that school is not a race but a journey.  A charter school with a Waldorf philosophy.  It is based on a profound understanding of human development that addresses the needs of the growing child. Waldorf teachers strive to transform education into an art that educates the whole child—the heart and the hands, as well as the head.

He did really well.  No crying, walked right into his classroom and did not look back.  And still hasn't. (as it is now 3-14 and I am updating my blog.)  Zackary has fit right in and is enjoying his first year here.
