Knitting and Basketball

In first grade the kids start knitting.  Z had to bring his flute case project home to work on it some.  I do not know how to knit so I couldn't help much-he was teaching me.  But he finished it and you can see it below.  All the kids worked hard on their cases during their handwork class.  

I opened up the summer community center magazine to see what classes to sign the kids up for next and there was Zackary in an action shot from his last basketball class.  Both kids love playing.  Ben and Emme are sitting on the bleachers.  Can't believe I wasn't there for the picture...haha.  Go Zack!

Frederick

Z's class performed their first play today...Frederick.  The teacher re-wrote the popular book and put together this adorable play for us parents and certain classes to watch.  Zackary was lavender and even though he was a bit nervous he was more excited and proud.  Him and I read the story together before the play (which I am glad I did so I understood it) and the class performed it beautifully!

Kids, teachers, parents all knitted the outfits, and helped bring in supplies for the production.  I wanted to capture this moment for Zackary so I snapped away.  Here he is with his two teachers (Ms. Wilde and Ms. Tanya) 

Frederick is all about this mouse who instead of collecting supplies to get him and his friends/family through Winter he collects colors, words and smells.  When winter approaches and all the supplies are gone he has the other mice close their eyes and he helps them envision what all the other seasons were like through smell, color and his poetry.

Our Annual Hike

This year we had guests on our annual hike to Sturtevant Falls.  It was a foggy morning we set out with an additional little Emme (her first time) and about 10 guests from The Los Angeles Adventure Club.  I spoke a second about John and had Zackary tell everyone what animals they might see a long with way. 

Emeline you were a pro and had such a good time with us.  You got right in there with Daddy and Zackary looked for salamanders and even holding some, spotting some and releasing some back in the water.  

We took so long stopping to explore while the rest were in a rush and didn't enjoy each bend, each animal, each potential along the way which is what John always did.  But we did-and that is what matters.  At the waterfalls everyone shared stories about John.  It was really nice.  

Next year, I think, just us 4.

Daddy's Day at School

Tennis Star?

I loved tennis in high school and still do.  We started Zackary playing around 6 and so when you turned 5 and school was out we decided to start you in lessons year around with your brother.  You look forward to it each week and you have the best coach too...Coach Rob.  Look at that backhand!

Mothers Day Bliss at the Montage

For the past couple years we have gone to The Montage in Laguna Beach for Mother's Day.  We enjoy a nice lunch or dinner and spend time at the beach.  This year a family of whales put on a show for us for a good 30-40 minutes.  They were passing not far out in the ocean.  It was amazing. 

Here are my little whales!  The reason I am a mother, the reason my life has meaning...these two!  I love you both with all my heart, luckiest mom in the world to have you two.  Thanks for blessing me and completing me with love, joy, strength and happiness.  As long as I am with you two on Mother's Day-it's a perfect day.
