May Faire For My First Grader

Another May Faire is upon us.  This springtime festival traditionally welcomes new growth and warm days as part of the cycle of the year. Dressed in whites and pastels, children and parents gathered early in the day in our meadow to fashion their own May crowns from vines and leaves and colorful flowers and ribbons. Waldorf schools are rich in festivals.  Festivals help us to nourish our souls through the sharing of stories, food, songs and activities linked to the seasons and expressed with beauty and reverence.

My first grader was excited to sing his song and walk around the May Pole.

Here is Ms. Wilde getting ready with the class for their turn participating in the Festival.

He was very helpful making his flower crown this morning.  It was a nice day spent together.

Field trip to Earth Roots

We had a fun time on your field trip to Earth Roots.  About a 30 minute drive outside of town and we were in the middle of the saddelback mountains.  Above you were all moving mulch around to help build a campground and below you were taking a moment with Kai from pulling weeds and cutting vines growing up a huge tree trunk.

This picture cracks me up each time I stumble across it.  Emeline was in a basketball class doing a lot of running and different obstacle courses and well I think you felt tired.  She just laid back and took a break.  Perfect picture moment!  Those moments come and go quick!

Shake Shack

Nothing like lunch at the Shake Shack looking over the Pacific Ocean.  You can actually kyack and walk up these stairs.  It was packed-rightfully so, burgers, gluten free buns and fries were yummy!

Los Osos to Visit Jedo and Baba

You had a lot of fun visiting your Grandparents.  You played soccer with Ryan, went on a hike along Morro Bay, ate Jedo's infamous taquitos, watched the Formula One races with Jedo, cuddled with dogs, played with chickens, picked fruit, learned how to play Chinese Checkers and did the famous Easter Egg roll down the driveway.  Sam joined us but his egg didn't win.  Baba won!   It was a fun trip.  On the way home the hills in Ventura were covered with mustard-yellow for miles!  My favorite and quite the sight to see.
